Question 1:
Under which categories / uses does the DJB give sanction for water supply? What are the categories of consumers with DJB? Answer
DJB sanctions water connections to consumers under three classifications/categories depending upon the nature of the use of premises or use of water: - 1. Category - I (Domestic)
2. Category - II (Non-Domestic)
3. Category - III (Non-Domestic)
Question 2:
Which type of uses are covered under Category-I (Domestic) ? Answer
Following are the examples of connections under the Category-I (Domestic) :- Premises used for purely residential purposes
Hostels of educational institutions/working women's hostels,
Destitute Homes, homes for physically & mentally challenged, Andh Vidyalayas and Orphanages,
Religious premises, Dharamshalas, Cremation Grounds,
Charitable institutions/Societies which have been exempted from income tax as per Section 12 A(a) of the Income Tax Act.
Question 3:
Which type of uses are covered under Category-II (Non-domestic)?
Answer
Category-II (Non-domestic):
All uses of water in premises which are not mentioned in category-I and III are treated as uses under category-II (non-domestic). For example, offices, shops etc.
Question 4:
Which type of uses are covered under Category-III (Non-domestic)? Answer
Following are the examples of connections under the Category-III (Non-domestic) : Hotels with lodging and boarding facilities, Guests Houses, and Banquet Halls
Any Industrial unit run in factory Area/Industrial area,
Cinema Halls
Factories, Ice Factories, Ice-cream Factories, Aerated water Factories, Sweetmeat factory excluding Halwai Shops which are not covered under the Factory Act.
Mother Dairy Milk Plants, Cooling Plants, Cold Storage
Horticultural activities, Hot Mix-Plants
Swimming Pools excluding Educational Institutions
Petrol Pumps, Laundries, Printing press in notified industrial/factory area
Flour Mills, Theatres, Circus, Photo labs,
Motor Garrage/workshop,
Power generation plants, gas oil-installations,
Recreational sports clubs/golf clubs/race course,
Railway Stations/ Yards/Workshop.
Fountains for ornamental use of water, Poultry/Agricultural/Horticultural Farms and allied Agro based activities

Question 5:
If in a residential property, there is also non- residential use of the property, would the DJB still charge the consumer at domestic rate?
Answer
It will depend upon the proportion of the area under the different uses. If the area under non residential use is 30% or more of the total area of the premises, the consumer will be charged for water for non domestic category. Further, in case of non-residential use, the tariff applicable to higher category will apply.
Question 6:
In Group Housing Societies, does the DJB sanction individual household connections?
Answer
In Group Housing Societies, supply is made in bulk to the underground reservoir of the society and further distribution to individual households is done by the housing societies themselves. Therefore, no individual water connection is sanctioned to each household in the society.
Question 7:
Are all the water connections required to have meters?
Answer
Yes, all the water connections are required to be fitted with meters. However, some of the domestic connections falling in Rural Areas, Slums Rehabilitation Colonies, Janata flats etc are sanctioned without meters.
Question 8:
In the case of un-metered connections, what is the basis of the billing?
Answer
For un-metered connections, the department charges at a flat rate of consumption of 10 Kl per month for domestic use.
Question 9:
Is it essential that meters are installed by the DJB only? From where can I get my own meter installed? Which are the permissible meters? Answer
A meter can be installed by the consumer also by purchasing meters of specifications as permitted by the DJB.
Question 10:
What are the specifications of the approved meters? Answer
The specification of approved / permissible meters are: - 15mm, class B, multijet, inferential type, magnetically coupled conforming to the IS: 779/1994 and the body of the meter shall be brass/ bronze as per IS: 779/1994. Meter should have the Manufacturer's Test Certificate and Test Certificate from M/S S.G.S Limited Testing Laboratory or its authorized branch.
Question 11:
Who can apply for new water connection?
Answer
Any citizen of Delhi - Owner of premises/Tenant/Occupier who has valid identity as proof of residence/ownership.
Question 12:
What are the requirements for sanction of new water connection? Answer
Any citizen of Delhi can apply for water connection to DJB (except in the area under the control of NDMC and Delhi Cantonment Board) subject to the following conditions:- The colony where the applicant resides should have been taken over by the DJB for water supply.
It is technically and legally feasible to supply water.
The applicant should have proof of residence like Ration Card, Voter's Identity Card, Ownership proof or NOC from the owner of the house, if the applicant is tenant / occupier.
The premises for which the water connection is applied for must have no arrears of previous dues or on account of water charges etc.
Question 13:
Where can one get an application form for new water connection? Answer
The application form is available at every office of Zonal Engineer (Water) and Zonal Revenue Officer of DJB (Annexure – ‘I') at a nominal fee of Rs.10/-. The application forms can be submitted, on all working days in the office of concerned Zonal Engineer (Water).
For details, one can visit our website: www.delhijalboard.nic.in from where the form can also be downloaded. At the time of submitting the form, Rs. 10/- is required to be deposited along with it.
Question 14:
Can a person obtain more than one water connection for the same premise?
Answer
Yes, subject to technical and legal feasibility.
Question 15:
What are the charges for obtaining a new water connection? Answer
The following charges are required to be paid at the time of sanction of water connections: - (i)Opening fee Rs. 100/-
(ii) Water Advance
Domestic Rs. 100/-
Non-domestic
(a) Water connection of size 15mm Rs. 200/-
(b) Water connection of size 25mm and above Rs.1000/-
(iii) Occupier Security (In case of tenant/occupier)
Category-I (Domestic) Rs. 100/-
Category-II (Non-Domestic) Rs 200/-
Category-III (Non-Domestic) Rs. 500/-
(iv) Road Restoration Charges depending upon the road length that is required to be cut.
(v) Meter security if meter is provided by the department.
(vi) Trade Security in case of non-domestic connection.
(vii) Water Development charges, wherever applicable. Villages and bonafide residents of extended area of village under Lal Dora are exempt from depositing development charges for domestic use. Besides villages, re-settlement colonies are also exempt from payment of development charges.
Question 16:
What is a Bulk Connection? Answer
Any connection of ferrule size of more than quarter of an inch is technically known as a bulk connection.
Question 17:
What is the procedure for obtaining a bulk water connection for Group Housing Societies etc? Answer
Group Housing Societies should get the scheme of laying service pipes within their premise approved from the Superintending Engineer, Planning Division of the Delhi Jal Board situated at Varunalaya Complex Phase-I, Jhandewalan, Karol Bagh. The application for new bulk water connection is to be submitted in the office of the area Executive Engineer of the Maintenance Division.
Question 18:
What is the procedure for regularization of unauthorized water connections? Answer
On payment of the following charges, an unauthorized water connection can be got regularized: Penalty of Rs.3000/-.
Water Charges for the respective Category for the past three years.
Water Development Charges, wherever applicable.
Usual initial charges such as opening fee, water advance and Road Restoration Charges etc.
Question 19:
Whom should I approach for getting the un-authorized connection regularized?
Answer
The office of the Executive Engineer or Zonal Engineer of the area can be approached for applying for regularization of unauthorized connection.
Question 20:
Does the DJB charge any rent towards installation of meter? What is the amount? Answer
In case, the meter is provided by the DJB, a rent is chargeable. In case, the meter is private owned, no rent is chargeable. The meter rent for different categories of connections is different. The rent is payable for functional meters on monthly basis and is included in the water bill of the consumer. The rent chargeable is Rs. 10 per month in case of water meters of normal 15 mm size (domestic use).
Question 21:
How many days are allowed for making payment of water bill charges?
Answer
The due date for making payment is shown in the bill and in case of default, surcharge is also to be paid. Normally, 15 days time is allowed for making payment from the bill date.
Question 22:
My meter has gone defective. Can I get a new meter installed in its place?
Answer
A meter has to be declared defective by the office of the Zonal Revenue Officer and the same is indicated in the water bill. Once a meter installed by the DJB is declared defective, a consumer can apply for rectification / replacement of the meter to the ZRO and the same will be rectified / replaced by the ZRO. In case of a private meter, the information about the defective meter can be sent to the ZRO who in turn will get it declared so on inspection and the replacement of the meter will be the responsibility of the consumer.
Every time, a new meter is installed in place of the defective meter with prior intimation, the consumer should give immediate information to the ZRO so that initial reading of the new meter alongwith date of replacement can be noted by the meter reader for billing purpose.
Question 23:
I am not satisfied with the meter reading. Whom should I approach? Answer
The area Zonal Revenue Officer is the authority to whom a consumer should approach in case of any clarification on the accuracy of a meter.
Question 24:
What are rates for meter security? Is it refundable?
Answer
Water Meter Security is charged in case of meters provided by DJB. At the time of surrender of water connection/meter, the meter security is refunded to the consumer.
Question 25:
Where is the application form for sewerage connection available and where is it to be submitted?
Answer
The application form is available at the office of every Zonal Engineer (Drainage) of DJB at a nominal fee of Rs.10/-. The form can be submitted on all working days in the office of concerned Zonal Engineer (Drainage). The same can be downloaded from the DJB's website: www.delhijalboard.com . Question 26:
What are the formalities and procedures for sanction of sewerage connection?
Answer
The sewer connection is sanctioned only in areas where sewerage services are available. The consumer is required to fill the application form and deposit the same along with proof of residence in the office of the concerned Zonal Engineer (Drainage), along with connection charges of Rs. 100/- plus road restoration charges @ Rs. 1600/- for domestic and Rs. 3200/- for non-domestic connection. The applicant is also required to deposit sewerage development charges, wherever applicable. |

Chapter 2
BILLING
|
Question 27:
What is the billing Cycle ?
Answer
At present, the DJB adopts two billing cycles. Generally, bills are issued on bi-monthly basis and in case of bulk connections, it is on monthly basis.
Question 28:
What are the charges raised in the water bill?
Answer
Following charges are raised in the water bill: - (i) Service Charge
(ii) Sewerage Maintenance Charge
(iii) Water Consumption Charge
(iv) Meter Rent if meter has been installed by the DJB.
(v) Cess Charge.
(vi) Arrears, if any.
(vii) Surcharge, if payment is not deposited within stipulated time.
(viii) Other charges as specified in the bill.
Question 29:
What is the rate of service charge? Answer
The present rates of Service Charge are: -
Category-I (Domestic) For built-up area upto 200 sqm. |

Question 30:
What is Water Consumption charge? Answer
It indicates the charges for volumetric consumption of water for the period as indicated in the bill.
Question 31:
What is the rate of Water Consumption charge as per the present tariff? Answer
In the existing tariff, the rates of Volumetric charge have been structured on the basis of consumption of water on monthly basis and depend on the category and consumption. A category-wise Volumetric Water Consumption charge given below :- |

What is the amount of Sewerage Maintenance Charge? Contd..P/7

Answer
50% of water consumption charge is recovered as Sewerage Maintenance Charge from colonies/areas where sewer lines have been laid.
Question 33:
What is Water Cess Charge? Answer
It is a charge being levied by the Central Government under Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution)Cess Act 1977. Presently it is being charged @ 2 paise per Kl.
Question 34:
What is the rate of Late Payment Surcharge? Answer
5% surcharge is levied if payment is not made within the due date as indicated in the bill. Surcharge is payable on the total amount due. Question 35:
Is water free upto a certain consumption level? Answer
Yes, this is true. Generally a small family consumes around 6 Kl water in a month. As per the existing water tariff consumption upto 6 Kl in a month is free of cost for domestic use. In such a case, the domestic consumer will have to pay only Service Charge. Question 36:
What is the criteria for raising of water bill if water meter stops functioning? Answer
For built-up plot upto 200 sq.m bill will be issued on the assumed average of 20 Kls per month. If the built up plot is above 200 sq.m, bill will be issued on the assumed average of 30 Kls per month. However, if the actual average is less then 20 Kl or 30 Kl per month (as the case may be), then the bill will be prepared on actual average basis. This criteria is applicable for domestic consumers w.e.f. 28-9-05 till further orders.
Question 37:
What are misuses of water? Answer
Use which is not permitted for the purpose for which the connection has been sanctioned would be treated as misuse. The use of water for construction of building without prior information and permission of the Delhi Jal Board is also a serious misuse of water.
Question 38:
What are the rates of water charges for construction purposes (Cost of water) for residential buildings? Answer
Rs. 5/- per cubic meter of cubical contents of the building subject to minimum charges of Rs. 2500/- per floor. Besides above, the water charges for the period the building remains under construction shall be recovered as under:-
Upto 50,000 litres per month @ Rs. 5/- per 1000 litres plus 50%
Above 50,000 litres per month @ Rs. 10/- per 1000 litres plus 50%
For minor repair Rs. 1000/- plus usual water charges.
Question 39:
What are the present rates of water charges for construction purposes (Cost of water) for commercial buildings? Answer
Rs. 10/- per cubic meter of cubical contents of the building subject to minimum charges of Rs. 3500/- per floor. Besides above, the water charges for the period the building remains under construction shall be recovered as under:-

Question 40:
What is Water Development Charge? Answer
Water Development Charge is a charge which is recovered from the plot holders of the colony where water lines are laid by the Delhi Jal Board and water services are commissioned. At present, as a policy, the Deptt is laying water lines only in unauthorized / regularized colonies as per the list of the unauthorized colonies drawn by the Govt of NCT of Delhi. However, villages and bonafide residents of extended area of village under Lal Dora are exempt from depositing the Water Development Charge for domestic use.

What are the rates of Water Development Charges?

Rate of Water Development Charges as applicable from time to time for the last five years are given as under:- |

What is Sewerage Development charge? Answer

Rate of Sewerage Development Charge is as under: For colonies notified prior to 06.12.1999, sewerage development charge is based on Date of notification Rate per Sq.m. of the plot area w.e.f. 02.04.1987 Rs. 45.00 with 12% interest w.e.f. 01.11.1990 Rs. 55.00 with 12% interest w.e.f. 05.04.1994 to 05.12.1999 Rs. 100.00 with 12% interest w.e.f. 06.12.1999 to 31.03.2005 Rs. 160.00 +12% penal interest in rate every subsequent year w.e.f. 01.04.2006 w.e.f. 01.4.2005 to 31.3.2006 Rs. 179.00 w.e.f. 01.4-2006 Rs. 200.00
Question 44:
What is the present criteria of levy of sewerage development charges? Answer
Criteria of levy of Sewerage Development Charge is levied on the basis of date of completion of work of laying of sewer line in the respective colony. In case of colonies where work is being completed in financial year 2005-06 rate of Sewerage Development
Charge is Rs. 179/- per Sq.m. with rebate of 20% for full and final payment within 3 months from the date of notification.
Question 45:
Where can the payment of water bills be made?
Answer
(i) DJB Bill collection centres : Payment of water charge can be deposited in any of the Zonal Cash Collection Centers of DJB during 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m on any working day. (List as per annexure-‘II') (ii) Payment can also be deposited in any of the authorized branches of State Bank of India, Syndicate Bank, Corporation Bank and Canara Bank. (iii) Deposit of payments at Post Offices (List as per annexure-‘III') (iv) Duly authorized Residents' Welfare Associations can also accept payment of water bills through cheques only. (v) Drop boxes within offices of RWAs as per their request.

Question 46:
Whether RWAs have been authorized to accept payments of water charges etc. on behalf of DJB and what is the process?
Answer
Yes, DJB authorizes RWAs which are duly nominated by the Govt. of NCT of Delhi under Bhagidari Scheme to accept payments of water charges and development charges by cheques only, on behalf of DJB. The Association issues the receipts from G-8 Book. Office stationery will be provided by the Board. Cheques, thus received by the association will be collected by an official of the concerned ZRO of DJB. For availing the above facility, the president of the association will enter into an agreement, with the concerned Joint Director (Revenue).
Question 47:
What facilities have been given to the Senior Citizens by the Delhi Jal Board?
Answer
1. Separate queue for senior citizens is allowed at cash collection center. 2. Collection of payment of water bills by the official of DJB at the door-steps of senior citizens after prior appointment.

WATER QUALITY |
Question 48:
Who is to be contacted in case of contaminated supply of DJB water?
Answer
Complaint may be lodged with the respective water emergency as per details at Annexure-‘IV' .
Question 49:
Can the DJB water be got tested for checking of contamination ?
Answer
Yes, this facility is available free of cost and the complainant can contact the Director of Quality Control on the telephone No. 23814322. His office address is at Wazirabad Water Works, Wazirabad, Delhi 110 054.
Question 50:
Can a leaking service pipe line of a consumer be got replaced by DJB? Answer
Yes at a nominal cost for which the applications are available free of cost in the office of the concerned Executive Engineer.
Question 51:
I doubt the quality of water being supplied by the DJB. Whom should I contact for checking the water quality? Answer
In case of any complaint about the water quality, following six laboratories of Delhi Jal Board can be contacted for water testing free of cost: -

Question 52:
Does the tests carried out in the laboratories only check the pathogens?
Answer
The tests provide for examination of the bacteriological remains as well as chemical examination. Special tests are also carried out to determine Cyanide, chromium, lead, cadmium, arsenic, etc in the water samples.
Question 53:
Can the tests be carried out on the water samples of the tube wells? Answer
Water being supplied from Ranney Wells and tube wells are tested on regular basis to check the contamination. However, any individual having its own source of water either from tube wells or otherwise can get the samples of water tested from the DJB laboratories on payment of charges.

RAIN WATER HARVESTING

Question 55:
Whom should I contact for technical assistance for rain water harvesting?
Answer
For technical assistance for rain water harvesting the DJB has got a cell functioning under an Executive Engineer. The address is – Rain Water Harvesting Assistance Cell, Delhi Jal Board, Varunalaya Phase-I, New Delhi-05. Phone No. 23675434, 23678380-82 Ext 246, 240.
Question 56:
I have come to know that there is some financial assistance scheme of the Govt of NCT of Delhi for promoting rain water harvesting. What is that? Answer
The Govt. of NCT of Delhi is promoting Rain Water Harvesting by giving financial assistance to the Resident Welfare Associations/ Cooperative Group Housing Societies, Private/ Recognized/ Govt. Schools, Industrial Buildings, Hospitals, Charitable Institutions, N.G.O. Buildings etc. Scheme is applicable for the entire Delhi except for few places in North West , West and North East Districts covering areas like Bawana, Kanjhawala, Rani Khera, Barwala, Khera Khurd, Khera Kalan, Libaspur, Dhirpur, B.B. Marg, ISBT, Kashmere Gate, Nand Nagri, Goklpuri and G.T. Road Shahdara. Financial Assistance is given to a maximum of 50% of total cost of the Rain Water Harvesting Structures or Rs. 50,000 whichever is less.

How to get financial assistance?
Answer
- Identify & asses the area from where Rain Water is to be harvested.
- On the plan of locality, mark the proposed RWH Structure.
Get in touch with Executive Engineer (Rain Water Harvesting), Delhi Jal Board, Room No. 11, Varunalaya Phase-I, Near Jhandewalan Mata Mandir, Karol Bagh, New Delhi-110005, Ph. 23558264 & 23678380-82 Extn. 227, for general & technical guidance.
All Zonal Engineers (DJB) have also been made Nodal Officers for collection and onward submission of documents required for financial assistance to EE(RWH) DJB.
- To get the design of RWH structure approved, contact Officer-in-charge, Central Ground Water Board, State Unit, Gallery No. 18/11, Jamnagar House, Mansingh Road New Delhi-11(#23384355)
- Contact any agencies who are in the field of Execution of Rain Water Harvesting structure and take most competitive estimates for the work.
- Detailed estimate of the work to be executed along with documents be submitted to EE(RWH), DJB or area Zonal Engineer (DJB) who will forward the same to EE(RWH).
- Get the work executed as per approval of DJB/ CGWB.
- Apply/ contact along with maintenance contract and expenditure details to EE(RWH), DJB, Room No, 11, Varunalaya Phase-I, Karol Bagh, New Delhi-110005, for seeking financial assistance.
Question 58:
What are the documents that are required to be submitted for seeking the financial assistance?
Answer
For seeking Financial Assistance, following documents are required:-
- Attested (Self) Copy of the registration of the RWA, CGHS, School, Industrial buildings, Hospitals, Charitable institutions, NGO Buildings etc.
- Attested (Self) copy of approved design of Rain Water Harvesting structures from Central Ground Water Board.
- Detailed estimate of the Rain Water Harvesting structures.
- Lay out plan of the society showing position of Rain Water Harvesting structures and conveyance system.
- Details of payments made to the contractor.
- An agreement on non judicial stamp paper for maintenance of Rain Water Harvesting structures by the Society/ RWA etc. with Delhi Jal Board (Matter of agreement is available with EE(RWH), DJB.

Question 59:
What is the procedure for mutation (change of name) of water connection ?
Answer
Application for transfer of name is to be submitted in the office of the concerned ZRO(W) alongwith following : (i). In case of purchase of property by the applicant : Attested copies of sale deed of the property in question in the name of the applicant. (ii). Attested copy of ‘succession certificate' or attested ‘NOC' from the other co-owners etc., in case of death of original water connection holder. (iii). An affidavit indemnifying DJB from any legal dispute, duly attested by Notary Public. (iv). Copy of last paid bill of water charges. (v). Mutation fee/ transfer charges to be deposited in concerned ZRO(W) office.

What is the mutation fee?
Answer
Mutation fee is charged at Rs. 100/- presently. Question 61:
Can a consumer get a water connection temporarily disconnected? If so, how? Answer
Yes, water connection can be temporarily disconnected only for valid reasons and for this an application by the original water connection holder is to be submitted at concerned ZRO(W) office along with copy of the latest paid bill and requisite disconnection charges.
Question 62:
In the event of house remaining vacant, can the bills be revised on Minimum charge basis? Answer
In the event of house remaining vacant and water is not used, bill may be revised on minimum charge basis i.e., only the service charges will be billed. However, onus of provingthe vacancy of the premises during the period of billing will be on the consumer and he/she has to produce relevant documents like electricity bill etc. verifying the vacancy of the property during the period for which request for minimum charge is being made.
Question 63:
What is the penalty in case of dishonored cheques?
Answer
20% of the demand raised in the bill for which cheque was issued. In addition, the person can be prosecuted under the Negotiable Instrument Act.
Question 64:
What is the procedure for refund of Meter Security? Answer
Refund of meter security/advance may be applied for by the Registered Consumer who has ceased to exist as Registered Consumer after mutation of water connection or the water connection is disconnected on request. Application for refund of advance/meter security is to be accompanied with original receipt vide which meter security/advance was deposited.
Question 65:
Can meter and occupier security in favour of new consumer be transferred on mutation of water connection? Answer
The amount of meter and occupier security already deposited may be transferred in favour of the new consumer as a result of mutation of water connection. An application in the prescribed proforma is to be submitted by the outgoing consumer and the incoming consumer duly attested by Gazetted Officer along with the original receipt of deposit or the certificate of deposit of said security. The receipt or certificate of deposit will be returned to the incoming consumer after making necessary endorsement of transfer on that account.
Question 66:
Is it necessary to use the services of a licensed plumber for repairing of water service pipe emanating from ferrule?
Answer
Yes, only the licensed plumbers are allowed by the DJB for the above purpose.
Question 67:
Is there any provision of Special meter reading?
Answer
Yes, when special reading is recorded at the written request of the consumer, special reading charges @Rs.10/- shall be deposited in advance.
Question 68:
Is there any concession or exemption to religious places or charitable institutions? Answer
No, water charges in category I are levied as per the existing water tariff in such institutions.
Question 69:
Is there any concessional rate of development charges for water supply/sewerage services from Public Utility Institutions located in regularized/unauthorized colonies ?
Answer
Yes, development charges for the reduced area is claimed from the following public Utility Institutions : (a). Institutional Building upto 2 acres 50% of the plotted area (b). Institutional Building beyond 2 acres 33.33% of the plotted area The term public utility institution will include Govt./MCD/DDA/NDMC or aided Educational Institution, Non-profit
making hospital/dispensaries/community centres and religious institutions which are purely and entirely used for worship and no portion of these is used for commercial/residential purpose.
Question 70:
Is obtaining of sewerage connections mandatory in colonies where sewerage system has been provided?
Answer
Yes, onus for obtaining mandatory sewer connection after payment of development charges lies on the plot holders right from the date of Notification and the water supply shall be liable to be disconnected in case of default.
Question 71:
What are the important telephone numbers of officers of Revenue Department who may be contacted if the problem of billing or any other related issue is not being settled at level of Executive Engineer /ZRO?

Question 72:
What action can DJB take in case of non-payment of water charges?
Answer
In case of non-payment of water charges, not only water connection but also the sewerage connection can be disconnected.
Question 73:
Whether a consumer can get his leaking/rusted water pipeline repaired or changed through DJB ? Answer
Yes, On payment of nominal charges this service is available. Forms for this are available at the offices of Executive Engineer, DJB of the area, free of cost.
Question 74:
Can the benefit of domestic category be claimed in notified industrial areas on the above criteria? Answer
No, notified industrial areas are not allowed this benefit.
Question 75:
What is the procedure for getting potable water through DJB water tankers? Answer
Contact the Water Emergency of your area on telephone Nos annexed as Annexure-‘IV'
Question 76:
Is it free water supply? Answer
Yes, the water supply through tanker is without any charge and it is supplied when there is disruption in regular supply of water or there is general contamination of water in the locality/flats.
Question 77:
What is the procedure for taking water supply for special occasions like marriage, religious functions? Answer
For special occasions as mentioned above, water supply through tanker is provided at a fixed charge, which is to be deposited at water emergencies in advance. This is however, subject to availability of water / tankers.
Question 78:
Is the water supplied by the DJB water tankers fit for human consumption? Answer
Yes, before a water tanker leaves the water emergency, the presence of chlorine in the right quantity is ensured.
Question 79:
Can a water tanker be booked from some other water emergency of a different area?
Answer
No. However, in case of non-supply of water, such arrangements are made by the Department on its own, free of cost.
Question 80:
Who is to be contacted in the event of demand of money or bribe for supply of water by tanker even if water to be supplied is free of cost? Answer
In case of any complaint of this kind, the concerned Executive Engineer as per list at Annexure-‘I' is to be contacted for redressal.
The complaint can also be lodged with the Vigilance Department of the DJB on the telephone number 23670461 at the address Varunalaya Phase-II, Karol Bagh, New Delhi-05.
